PSA - I owe some people some adjusted resource lists, last week ended up being a bad brain week but rest assured I haven't forgotten.
Now for yr regularly scheduled thread -
A lot of us seem to enjoy making devotional art, whether painting, writing, sculpting, or what have you. I'm going to be working on my spring/summer visual myth project soon, but I thought it would be fun to put something together that I can work on simultaneously that I can launch sooner, so that we can all have something out there to show off!
I'll be paying for hosting, domain, all that, so no monetary contributions will be necessary from anyone, and I'll also be taking care of layout and/or theming. I want this to be as stress-free for the community as possible. I'd like to collect devotional Gaelic Polytheist art of any sort that you are open to sharing, and create a gallery tagged by the creator, the type of art, and the beings the art honors. I say beings rather than exclusively deities - I think it would be super cool to create and share devotional art for ancestors, mythical heroes and creatures, anything like that.
I'm envisioning this as something that would be ongoing, so I'd want a healthy collection of pieces to start but people could continuously submit. I'll create an artist's page to show each person who submits in any fashion you're most comfortable with (for example, with your real name and a link to your personal site, a pen name and a link to a Tumblr, no link at all, whatever you like), where you can also include how you'd like to be contacted if you're cool with people contacting you. I'm thinking that this could be a lovely opportunity to gain some traction on the internet outside of Tumblr, do some community building, and even a little educational work as I'm envisioning some of the art could be paired with text - whether that's devotional text you wrote for it, or a clip from a myth, or a citation from a book.
It'll take me some time to get the framework settled but in the meantime, I'd love to hear if any of you are interested! And again, don't feel pressured to send artwork / create artwork IMMEDIATELY as I definitely want this to be ongoing and don't want to use up all of our fuel right at the start, you know?
I'll field general interest and ideas right now, once I get a read on how you all feel I'll come up with some more specific guidelines of what I'll need from folks.
