I'm going to Japan in a couple of weeks. My itinerary is Tokyo/Kamakura, Kyoto, and, Hiroshima. I'm planning on making a sweep of Benzaiten-sama's 3 major shrines: Enoshima, Chikibushima, and Itsukushima.
Wheeeeeee!!!!

Well, I made it to Japan, but I haven't left the Tokyo area. I just haven't had enough time or energy, because Fuckitt, TOKYO IS FUN. Tokyo is love; Tokyo is life. I could spend my whole damn life in Tokyo and not get bored. So here is the place I have been hanging out, the Benten-do DSCF1046 by Anne Megerian, on Flickr

Oh man, yeah. THAT HAPPENED TO ME LAST YEAR. This is where I was, in Kichijouji. It's near the Ghibli museum: Benzaiten Jinja 1 by Anne Megerian, on Flickr Perhaps this thread should be merged with the "Shrine experiences thread" and turned into a "general Japanese polytheism" thread? Could we make that happen? Because I'd love to discuss Japanese polytheism some more, and I've got a ton of pictures to go along with it.

I would definitely be interested in a general Japanese polytheism thread. Especially with pictures! As for shrine experiences I should talk about Wat Suddhavasa because I really do love the place. That and some of the other temples I've been to, like the small Vietnamese temple in my city or that huge fucking Chinese temple I went to for an anthropology project.
