How are you planning on religiously marking this festival this year?

Setting up my seasonal altar, giving offerings to the ancestors and actually marrying a pair of pagan friends that night. It should be a wonderful way to start the new year!

Boggan - that sounds wonderful!
For me, my plan is: participate in secular Halloween (at least getting dressed up and potentially having a party with the housemates); do divination readings like I planned on my tumblr; queue up the bits of Irish lore, also for my tumblr; and potentially use a Spirit board to contact the dead/my ancestors.
I would really love it if I could have my ogham bones ready to use for that evening, but at this rate, that looks like a pipe dream...

Going to be carving pumpkins and turnips. I'm going to carve a few turnips for a friend of mine too. The Irish Catholic family I'm friends with. Also going to be using the left over turnip from the carving and the pumpkin seeds to make food type things. Namely soup and roasted pumpkin seeds. Bits of which I'll give to the gods. Probably going to try divination too.
And I think I might read a friend of mine a story on it. One involving the Morrigan.

Most of the energy will be spent giving offerings and prayers to my ancestors and any passing spirits, as well as doing some divination on the coming year, but I'll also be ritually welcoming The Cailleach back from her deep sleep, and bidding Brigid farewell until Imbolc, like I did last year. Also, I plan to read all the myths/stories that involve Samhain in some way, which are many! It'll be busy, but I also split my celebration up over several days to keep me from burning out.
Edit: Forgot to mention the importance feasting has for me on this holiday! I'm currently planning a big meal for the night of the 31st.

I've already done a small bit of prep work, however I've been working to collect small amounts of candles of different sizes mostly. I'm planning a small "indoor bonfire" and so I'm working to make sure I have a decent space to set them up where the cats won't immediately try to cause me any problems.
I have also begun drafting a few prayers to choose from on that night, related to different topics as necessary and begun setting up a list of potential offerings to prepare (I'm being a bit anal and trying to align specific offerings to different prayer types, because of reasons).
But for the most part, I'm not sure what I'm going to orchestrate exactly. We'll find out closer to.

Aside from feasting, I'm not sure what I'm doing this year...I'll get back to you.

Oh man, so... mainly, I'm getting super jazzed about food. I want to do some apple-stuffed porkchops and a few sides - I'm trying to think of who I might like to invite because I'd like to make a lot of food and have a gathering! Honestly quite tempted to just out myself completely since most everyone at least suspects, and then I'd have more options, ha. Might be fun to dress up for this too.
I want to work on some prayers, poooossibly also see if I can get something heatproof for the yard so I can have a fire outside but we'll see.

About a half hour after making that post my boyfriend and I planned a desserts-for-dinner party the day before Halloween haha, that way I can invite lots of folks to celebrate without having any particularly awkward situation. I'm super excited!

My housemate and I have decided that we are throwing a major slumber party with a ton of horror movies, food, decorations, and other awesome things. I'm counting this as "religious" because Samhain was supposed to be a time to get friends and family together, to huddle indoors, and to tell stories. They may not be all my friends, but we're huddling indoors with actors playing stories - close enough for me. I'm also running an event on my blog, where I post traditional Irish stories every hour once sunset hits, all the way to dawn; I'm also going to offer free divination to those who are interested. Maybe I'll make porridge for Nuadha? Or do something for the Morrigan? I'm more interested in doing something for Flidais. Perhaps that night I'll start my Shadow Work (which I've been promising for almost a year now)? Anyway, I love everyone's ideas and I'd like to incorporate some of them into my own tradition this year!

Dang, my Samhain celebrations change every year. I know later in November, I'm going to do the Samhain ritual with my local CR community. But as for the actual day, I will probably celebrate the day before since I work and have a Halloween party. And I'll probably make some kind of pork/apple stew and do up the altar fancy. I think I'll also leave out offerings for the Dead. That's all I've got so far.

I've really been flaking out on studying and practicing for a while now, so I'm thinking Samhain would be a good time to refocus my efforts since, if I recall correctly, Samhain is the Celtic new year. Working on making safe space for an altar and will be ordering two books either tonight or tomorrow so that I have physical reminders to keep on it. As for the night itself, I'll be out of town to spend the evening with friends for dinner, so that'll be really pleasant.

Getting back! I am doing a feast/party/thing for friends...though no one may show up haha. We'll see! It'll be November 1st, so it'll be a ~little~ late, but no one's judging On October 31st, though, I think I'll have a private ritual and do a silent dinner for my ancestors. I'll probably participate in Radha Ní Dhaimhín 's tumblr thingy, maybe offer to do divination myself that night (I offer it year-round but I'll poke the tags to remind people of that xP)

I'll admit that my plans had to be rearranged this year, I ended up working the 28th through the 3rd and that put a bit of a kink in my original ideas. I ended up going down to the lakefront a few days early and making an offering, then returning to my home and having some time for prayers in front of a small jack-o-lantern.
Fun fact, it starts to downpour suddenly every time I throw a bloody heart into the lake and it's certainly been... Interesting fighting my way back up the embankment in a torrent to the roadside where my Jeep is left. Additionally, the lake water was considerably warmer than I'd imagined it would be at this time of year.
