Hey, y'all!
My name's Alexander, but you can call me whatever you like. I'm currently living in Batesville, Ar, and I've been attempting to explore paganism and polytheism in general for about a year now. Grew up die-hard Christian, and at 17 decided to explore various religions. Spent four years as a Baha'i, and about a year ago decided I was done with strict monotheism entirely. I currently find the idea of a Hermetic polytheism/monotheism most interesting, as it seems able to combine a deistic monotheism with paganism. I practice Hermetic and Chaos magick (Hermetic ceremonial magic as been only a few months, but I've been practicing Chaos magick since I left Christianity), and I'm extremely interested in combining ancient pagan paths with a more modern polytheism, the development of new gods, and bringing ancient gods into the urban environment.
I happened across this community while looking for a general polytheism forum, and it looks like it'd be a useful resource for exploring various polytheistic paths and polytheism in general.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone here.
A thought in the mind of All, A seeker after the minds of the gods, Alexander

Welcome :) Yes, this is a good place to look into different paths, and also discuss the problems of recovery/dealing with monotheistic background baggage. I'm a hermeticist too! but I practice hermetic spiritual alchemy and theurgy, but not chaos magic. My hermeticism works together with kemetic and greko-egyptian ritual work.

I've been getting more involved with studying Alchemy and Theurgy, but that's a lot of research, so it's going to take me a while to really get anywhere with it. My work with Chaos Magick is what really opened my eyes to the spiritual nature of the world (or maybe the worldly nature of spirituality?), and I find that many of the theories underlying Chaos Magick seem to provide the best answers (and most confusing questions) when used to understand the various pantheons and why they ALL seem to work when I apply them in my practice. At least, that's been my experience.
I'd be interested to know how Hermeticism has shaped your worldview.
