I've finally found a place like this to open up! My name is Catharyn, but because I share the name with my mum I usually go by my middle name Emily--I am comfortable with either. I live in central California, and other than a few close friends, there are not a lot of people I feel like I can confide in here, hahaha. I... don't really remember how I found this site, I've just constantly researched and researched all I could until this landed in my lap--for which I am very grateful.
I won't go through my whole life story, but in short I was raised in a pretty relaxed (religion wise) home. My grandma wasn't an extreme catholic, but enough of one to be dragged every Sunday to church til she passed, and although my father isn't as strict, he still leans heavily that way. My mum on the other hand, a few years ago I discovered, has a similar outlook as I, but isn't looking into anything specific--she mainly believes in earth magics.
I, on the other hand, am extremely interested in Gaelic Polytheism--and I relate heavily to Lugh, or perhaps its better to say I highly respect him and feel as though I have a connection to him? Growing up I didn't feel any connection to any religions or beliefs so I began doing what I felt like. I've looked into other pantheons, mainly out of curiosity, and picked up a Celtic mythology book. And that is how it all began. I know better than just believing one source, so I've constantly researched after learning about him. Eventually I wish to be acquainted with all of the Irish deities, but Lugh will always be the most important to me.
Outside of this, I'm an aspiring artist (you can find my most recent work on a facebook page with the artist name "Catharyn Emily") studying Economics with a concentration in accounting. Although my medium of choice is ink and pen, the medium I'm best with is charcoal. I've always planned on obtaining a job to make enough to focus on art. Other hobbies include reading, learning, and of course I could never stop playing games--I absolutely love stories of any kind. Oh, and I really love stones.
Other than practicing healing and doing small readings, I have continued to wait until I know exactly what I am doing to attempt to practice anything else, mainly worried I'll make a mistake.
I wouldn't lie, so I'd like to say I am a bit nervous, but I hope to learn everything I can from this community. Thank you.
