If anyone has any special plans for Imbolc, I'd love to hear them!
This is my first I'll be celebrating "properly" and also kind of my first anniversary of practicing, I'm very excited. I'm about to go start knitting on a brat Bríde to leave out for Brigid to bless (I'm thinking I might just go full-on and make a scarf I can wear), and I bought a little wooden crate to make a bed out of - still undecided what to make my Brigid doll out of, though, since NO ONE HAS CORN for me to get the husks off.
Very inconsiderate. Anyway.
I might try my hand at a new recipe too, we'll see!

That sounds lovely Ashley! I know I plan to at least do a cros Bríde. My tradition is to always grab things that are local, and since I live in an urban area, that amounts to newspapers! But I haven't accumulated any newspapers, so I might use flyers at the library I am now visiting since it's going to become a second home to me when I start going back to school I'll probably also leave out a blanket on the eve of Imbolc as a bra Bríde for blessings, though I don't know what I want to use yet. I think, weather permitting, I'll go to Fontenelle Forest and leave an offering and meditate in the woods. I so miss my woodsy landscape of PA... Maybe I'll make something like a dolly of biodegradable things to leave behind, like corn husks and then also leave the corn behind as food. I want to visit Fontenelle more often More importantly, I need to clean my apartment. At least the kitchen area. There is so much grim on my stove it's embarrassing. And if Brighid is going to make her rounds on Imbolc, I want to make my home look nice! And that's about all haha. If I can accomplish half of that, it'll be successful

I usually clean everything, and collect rain water (If I can) to leave out for her to bless. Baking breads is also a favorite of mine. Which might not be recon exactly, but it works until I get my own house.

I was hoping my dad was going away this weekend so I could have the house to myself and do some nice things, but i just found out that it's gonna be a couple of weeks before that happens. Which means I'll probably get a lot less cleaning done than I would otherwise. I really want to make a brat Bríde this year, if I can figure out how to crochet enough to make a small something, but if nothing else, I'll be leaving out my comfort hoodie I've also been wanting to make a cros Bríde like this one for a while, and now is clearly the time to do so. There's also some crafty things I've been thinking of doing to make my living space nicer. And there will hopefully be the usual singing, which tends to be the only thing I manage.

Oh my goodness, leaving out your comfort hoodie gives me the idea to leave out my blankie and stuffed animal I've had since childhood. I'm tempted, haha.

I'm also thinking about scrounging some pipe cleaners from my mom's craft supplies and making a very tiny, very colorful cros Bríde, since I don't think I have anything else on hand that would work.

I am very excited because this will be my first Imbolc. And even if I go back to being Buddhist and never have another one I want this to be a thing. That is important. I'm giddy because there are new things to learn. Like how to make a cros Bride. And I'll get to use my new found baking skills for something special and not just because bread tastes good. So I won't be trying anything new on the food front. I'll just be...Slowly perfecting what sorts of things I do know how to make.
And. Things really need to be cleaned up and made orderly. My bookshelf is chaos, among other things.

Since I recently moved, I noticed the floor of the house I'm in hasn't been properly cleaned in a long while, and I did some basic just to keep my allergies under control, but I decided to leave the majority of it for that day as a way to spend the day and to feel productive. I also have plans of showing my grandmother the sweet bread recipe I enjoy, and baking crescent rolls because those are a weakness of mine. My workout routine will also be interrupted a bit, I'm redirecting my running path towards the lake where I can settle off the path into a portion of woods to leave a deer heart as a final offering for the Cailleach because I like to be thorough when it comes to her, meaning a good bye with a relatively big offering in comparison to what I normally do. I don't yet know if I want to make a cros Bríde yet, because I like to dried grains, and I'm not sure if there are any that grew (and survived the winter thus far) in the area. I've basically had to rewrite my plans, and I'm still not 100% sure on what I'm going with yet.

My newspaper cros Bríde looked...really bad last year, so the one I made with pipe cleaners (purple and black f'yeah) is what is visible outside my door. If I'm recalling correctly, I think schools in Ireland use pipe cleaners for in-class activities. So, while not "traditional", it's certainly colorful and waaaay easier to handle! (And accessible, since I don't know how many people have rushes in their backyard?)

My usual is to CLEAN ALL THE THINGS and also make a nice dinner of some kind. Also a personal tradition of lighting a candle when I wake up and leaving it lit all day, which my roommates find really amusing because that means I carry the damn thing around all day haha. I've never actually left anything out for her to bless (and I don't know if I will, because: have you see how snowy Ottawa gets) but I'm considering it this year.

XD They're in protected wetlands area anyway, so not touching them just seems like the safest option. Pipe cleaners sound like something I could manage to work with and not create a terrible mess with, lol.

I'm genuinely curious, you mean a literal deer heart? Can I ask why that/where you got the idea/etc.? And is it from an animal you hunted? Genuinely curious because I don't think I've ever run across that before! Also, I plan to do a little baking, probably some oat cakes in my mini bundt pan, clean the house again, complete with dusting and sweeping. And I've got some old material from pajama pants and that kind of thing that I intend to leave out the night before as I intend to use them for charm bags and other crafts. With Imbolc falling on a Sunday and the fact that I work 12+ hour shifts on weekends, so it will likely be Friday before and Monday after before I get to do most of the active things on my part.

During 2013, I was struck by the sudden idea to leave the first heart of the season as an offering for the Morrigna, at the time I had a specific area in the woods where I used to live that I had arranged as a sort of outdoor shrine area. Leaving a heart out wasn't a big deal because there are plenty of crows, ravens, fox and other in the area that will take care of meat left out - especially something as smelly as a deer heart. Early 2014, I decided that leaving a bloodied deer heart, dripping in Irish cream, in the cracked ice in the middle of a frozen river would be an appropriate offering for the Cailleach as she was leaving for the season. It was a total whim to start using them, one of those "Aha!" moments that makes total sense to you and you just go along with it because why not? This year especially, I am not bothered by this because I've had ten hearts. The most recent being from a deer my father and I saw get hit by a car and left along side the road, because weather was poor and it wasn't noticed until the last moment. We ended its suffering, my father took portions of the unbruised meat from the side that wasn't hit, and I took the heart which was luckily not punctured by broken ribs. I plan on using that one, since it is the most fresh, and died partly due to the kind of weather attributed to the Hag.
