Hello all, I'm Searlait, and I'm really excited to become a part of this community (if I can remember to log on--yegads, there are so many forums I've lost track of all I belong to). I'm pretty active on Tumblr (thehouseofdelirium/thealtarofdelirium), Instagram (@thehouseofdelirium), and Twitter (@maisondedemence), so feel free to follow me if you like. You can call me Charlotte, I just wanted my username to be /something/ Irish-y related and unrelated to any of my other handles.
I've been a pagan for about four years now, but only recently have I started identifying as polytheist. I started Gaelic Polytheism around the end of 2013. I've bounced around from Asatru to Green/Hedge Witchcraft to Anglo-Saxon paganism and now to Gaelic Polytheism, which I've stuck to the longest, methinks. I like reading up on reconstructionist practices, but it's not something I rely too heavily on. I don't really do divination or magic, but I do have a tarot deck I use sometimes--mostly because I'm indecisive. I've believed in the Good Folk since I was eleven.
Outside of religion, I mostly do the whole fantasy nerd thing (video games, Pathfinder). I read just about anything, though I really like 20th century contemporary fantasy/horror as well as anything written around the turn of the century (from Wilde to Woolf, I like to say). I also write a lot. I'm currently working on a MLS degree, focused on archiving and digital curation. I adore late-Victorian decor and I also collect books on nearly everything.

Welcome to the board Charlotte! Do you have a favorite book in your collection? Religion-wise, I'm super fond of Kindling the Celtic Spirit by Mara Freeman, but generally, I'm torn between my heavily marked-up copies of The Picture of Dorian Gray (Wilde) and Welcome to Bordertown (ed. Windling).

I need to read The Picture of Dorian Gray. I love Wilde and it's a damn shame I haven't gotten around to reading that yet >>
I'll also need to check out Kindling the Celtic Spirit. I think I saw it on the bookshelves once, but I got a different book instead.

I think I saw it on the bookshelves once, but I got a different book instead. It actually took me several years to get around to reading Dorian, so I'm right with you there. Kindling is actually pretty great. It touches on both Christian and pagan customs, and while it focuses mostly on Gaelic folkways, there is often acknowledgement of other Celtic groups, like the Welsh and Gallic. As far as I can tell, it's pretty unproblematic, aside from some possible Graves-inspired tree wisdom, and there's tons of citations, which I appreciate.
