Created an account to post this here, because it might be relevant to some other GP folks . I am in no way associated with Coru Cathubodua, or PSVL. This might be relevant to the effort to develop GP resources not connected to Gaol Naofa?

I'd really like to take this. I'll see where I am doing financially by the end of May, though I'm already glad to see there's a sliding scale.

My worry would be that Coru Cathubodua have engaged in horse sacrifice. I think their work is amazing, especially on social justice issues, and I link to them a lot. But I'd have ethical difficulty taking part in a course or group run by them, because I can't be involved directly with a group that practices animal sacrifice in general or horse sacrifice in particular. It may be a taboo for me - I'm not sure yet. It's an issue though. ETA: I've just gone back to the article where they talk about this - bansheearts.com/2013/07/blood-and-battlefields/ - and it's not clear whether this was a sacrifice or simply a ritual meal, or what the source of the meat was. I don't know if I'd feel better about them simply condoning animal sacrifice, vs doing it themselves. That makes it even more unclear for me. Personally, as a follower of Macha (particularly as Macha wife of Cruinniac), I support horse-protecting work as much as I can. I see the contradiction in not being vegetarian but objecting to a ritual feast of horse meat though. So I need to do more research about exactly what their views are. - Leithin

I can definitely understand why that would be a problem for someone, but I don't think I personally would take issue. This probably isn't the right thread for an in depth discussion of animal sacrifice haha but I know was rather a lot of it in early Ireland, particularly of horses—including some to Macha if I'm remembering correctly? But obviously if that doesn't jive with you then it doesn't, and I can totally see why someone would feel the call to protect horses in her honour as well. It's good of you to bring it up in case other people might not be okay with it either. c:

Oh yes, I absolutely don't think everyone should feel the same way as me! It's definitely an issue that people will feel differently about. I might start a thread on it.
