Hey! I'm Huri. I'm (almost) 19 years old, bisexual, genderfluid, and disabled.
I was kinda agnostic for most of my life. I was bounced around through a lot of different demoniations of Christianity, and went to a Buddhist temple with my father (who was doing it for very insincere reasons) for awhile but nothing really stuck with me. I got interested in magic around last December and admittedly dabbled in Wicca related knowledge for a short while. I can't exactly remember when, but by May I had gone on a Celtic Recon path that would slowly turn into a Gaelic Polytheist one. I've been devoted to the Morrígan for the longest/most, but I also have tiny altars for Brigid and Manannán and have wanted to do a "hey, hi, what's up?" to Lugh and Flidais. I admit that my relationships and practices have been a little... casual, I guess?
My hobbies are illustration, photography, astrology, tarot, gardening, cooking, video games, anime (kinda?), art history, and astronomy. I'm out of schooling right now as I try to piece my life together, but I'm thinking about going to art school in the future.
I've been lurking the community on tumblr for about a year now and I was always (still am) nervous about joining in for some reason! I guess I'm scared about messing up or that I'm doing everything wrong, but that seems to be a common feeling in the polytheist community so I'll probably fit right in.

Welcome to the board Huri! Everyone seems to be really nice around here (I've been a member for two days) so you shouldn't have any trouble with fitting in around here =D

Slaínte Huri! There is nothing wrong with a casual deity relationship, nor a casual practice. You are indeed right that a lot of people worry about messing up, which on Tumblr can sometimes be taken out of context and brought to the extremes. There's a lot of things I like about Tumblr, but it can sure be intimidating. But this forum tries to be welcoming to "mistakes" (I haven't come across really any so I put that in quotes.) I stayed out of school for 4 years trying to piece my life together too and am now back in school, so congrats on you for doing what's right for you first and going at your pace Have you started any gardening projects? I know it's beginning of spring in the Norther Hemisphere.

Thanks everyone! There's a lot I like about tumblr too, but I remade mine recently to cut down on seeing misinformation and bad discourse (both in the pagan/polytheist community and in a broader sense). Also deleting 5 years worth of your teenaged posts feels pretty good. I'm glad to hear it worked well for you! I still get a lot of people telling me it was a bad decision (thankfully just old school "friends" and older adults I barely know) so it's great to know that there's others who've done the same. I started last year, actually! I live in an apartment so I'm constricted to pots, but I have a pretty nice indoor herb garden. My apartment has no southern windows though, so most of the plants tend to struggle. I'm planning on buying strawberries and another basil plant for this year. ETA: Ah, forgot to address this! I mentioned casual because when lurking the board I saw a lot of people mention the Morrigan as scary and others describe their relationship as pretty intense, and I got that "oh no am I doing something wrong here because I don't experience this?" feeling. Maybe this is something I should talk about on the thread in question.

Helloooooo come join our GP pillow fort. Welcome to the forum! I'm honestly so excited to be a part of a GP community... I kept reading "community is important" and felt guilt but still didn't take the plunge. It'll be nice to have people I can talk to and ask questions about all this!

Ah, I know that feeling! I just am awful with gardening but I have two plants right now. I am thinking of getting an aloe plant eventually. But right now, just the two house plants and THEY HAVEN'T DIED YET! I'm so excited haha.
Not everyone finds community as important as me or Ashley or other GPs you'll meet on this forum, but it seems to be a norm since GP in its morals focuses a lot on community? That said, finding a community can be difficult.

I find community important in a lot of different parts of my life, it's just that BPD makes it a little harder for me to engage or stick around at first. Thanks again for all the warm welcomes, everyone!

welcome! this has become a really nice and friendly space for GP folk, so i hope it's a good fit for you as someone with various weird brain, i've found building relationships with Lugh, Manannán and Brigid to be a pretty vital part of figuring all that stuff out, and they've been incredibly patient with me (as have a lot of the people in this community, with my tendency to just disappear for months...). when i first started out in GP, it was full of elitism and ableism and i always felt that i had to hide my mental disabilities or be rejected, but in the last few years, a lot of new people have been finding a place here and have been working on making it a much more accepting community in terms of ability. it's actually become one of the few places where i don't feel constantly looked down on, especially when it comes to making mistakes. it's awesome that you're taking time to figure stuff out before doing more school. i really wish i'd done that! not taking a break was a huuuuuge mistake for me and ended pretty badly. don't listen to anyone who gives you problems about that decision
