Hi everyone! I am Aiwelin, primarily an Anglo-Saxon Heathen, though I mix in a few Norse and Continental things now and again. I also honor the Valar though it's not something I talk about often. I am devoted to the Goddess Nerthus, who is a Continental deity but in my UPG was carried across the sea to England. My practice is very land-centric, and so land weights, river Goddesses, and deities traditionally identified as Vanir make up the majority of my devotional relationships.
I have been a polytheist for a few years now, building on years of an animist world view. I am a member of the Druid org ADF, and I'm very active in my local group, Prairie Shadow Grove, as well as the local Heathen kindred. I am very much at home here.
If you want to find me other places, I am on the Cauldron forum as Aiwelin, I keep a blog pagangrove.blogspot.com, and am on Tumblr as EarthyHeathen. I look forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome to the form, Aiwelin!
I'd love to probe your brain about river goddesses sometime. I've been trying to find a place that will get me close to the Missouri River to say hi, but so far I can only find areas that are filled with factories...

Welcome to the form, Aiwelin! I'd love to probe your brain about river goddesses sometime. I've been trying to find a place that will get me close to the Missouri River to say hi, but so far I can only find areas that are filled with factories... ooh, I would love to talk river goddesses! The best place I have found (in Omaha, NE) to connect with the Missouri is Lewis and Clark Landing. It's technically a park but is rather covered in concrete, but it gets you close to the river and you can even walk up on the pedestrian bridge and sit over the river and look out over Her expanse - I've had some really wonderful experiences there. Going north or south, there are more fishing-oriented spots that would let you get up close as well; but they can be a bit of a drive depending on where you're located. As I recall you're a Nebraskan as well?

I'll have to check that out! I was trying to find places to see the Missouri in Omaha but it seems impossible to get close enough to touch the water :/

Hey! Welcome to the board.
I'm interested in river veneration as well! Luckily unlike Allec the city I live in is very big on giving people access (thanks, Texan tradition of river floatin') but my problem has been finding legends about the river.

^^^ Yay fellow Southerner! But I so agree about the myths surrounding American rivers. We wiped out the Native groups and lost a lot of those stories in the process.
