My notion of the divine is that they're basically another species and one of the six types of lives you can be born in. Those all being a god or heavenly being, a human, a hungry ghost, an asura which is another kind of godly being, an animal, and a being in Hell. The godly beings are very long lived, very powerful, and in some cases exceptionally wise. Thus I think they're able to guide their rebirths to some degree possibly? At any rate a being like Lugh is hideously long lived and definitely above us in many ways. We're all equal in that we're possessed of no-self, are possessed of impermanence and will die, and suffer though.
