Hi everyone! My handle on here is Volva44, but IRL my name is Rachel Taylor. I am a Heathen and have been a practicing polytheist for about 18 years. I came to Heathenry after I deconverted from Christianity and challenged my friends to convert me to their religions. I meant it as a lighthearted game, but the Norse Gods really spoke to me - first Odin, Freyr, and Thor, and then the rest of the pantheon. Like many devotionalists, I don't feel that I chose this path as much as it chose me.
I learned magic with an Alexandrian Blue Star coven, though, and I've studied ZaZen and devotional Buddhism with dedicated friends. I also studied Santeria, Vodoun, and Umbanda academically while I was getting my Master's degree in Religious Studies, but I have not interacted with any practitioners.
I don't blot or circle much any more. My local communities dissolved and I've struggled to find a community with which I feel comfortable. I miss community ritual and don't consider myself a solitary by preference, just circumstance.
I came to this community because I have recently had some visionary experiences with Wepwawet, and I have very little experience with Kemetic deities or devotionalism. I'm feeling called to build a relationship with the opener of ways, but the resources for preferred rituals and offerings for Wepwawet specifically seem very sparse. I'm looking for a contact with someone who has worked with Wepwawet or can point me to some deeper resources.
