Hi, y'all! Sláinte!
I'm Johnathan, or the TheModernSouthernPagan and TheModernSouthernGentleman or polarbear1986 in non-religious places. Johnathan, JDC, or some variant of a username is fine (but I do generally detest bein called John, just FYI). He/him/his pronouns.
I've been some form of Pagan since 2004, but have only identified as a Gaelic Recon Polytheist since 2012. I was raised Southern Baptist in the Southern United States, but began the process of leaving by the time I was 16 due to a lot of issues, but foremost due to their general homophobia. But this upbringing and interest in my own family's past led me to where I am today. I honor a number of deities, Flidais, Brighid, Lugh, Manannán Mac Lir, Áine, and Arimid & Miach, being foremost, as well as ancestor veneration. I also practice Southern folk magic (especially healing and protective) as I learned little things growing up and have expanded the practice and melded it where applicable with Gaelic tradition as I've gotten older.
I'm currently working on dual Bachelors degrees in Religious Studies and photography, but actually intend to attend nursing school once I'm finished. I know, I'm a bit all over the place. I've actually worked as an emergency room veterinary technician for over a decade now, so it's not quite as random as it seems, I guess. I'm covered in metal and ink, but there's always room for more. My interests range far and wide, so I know a little about a lot, but only a few things with much depth. Part of that, I think, is my ADHD, but who knows. I'm also obsessed with anything horror, especially vampires (thanks, Anne Rice!), animals, science, and medicine.
Anywhoo, I'm pretty well an open book. I'm more than happy to answer questions about anything I can, religion or otherwise, so feel free to ask! You can wither click on my name in my profile and send me a message or shoot me an email to TheModernSouthernPolytheist@gmail.com
