Hey there everyone!
I'm Ashley, a Gaelic Polytheist from Boston. Aside from here, I can be found on Tumblr as saint-felicity, or at my shiny new Wordpress blog.
I grew up Catholic, converting to being a pseudo-Baptist in college (I graduated a bit over two years ago), followed by a vaguely-Wiccan-not-sure-what's-going-on stage, landing up here. I have been studying for some time but practicing for a little over a year now. Now that my Catholic baggage is firmly dealt with, I love exploring where Catholic and Gaelic cultures intersect and still harbor a love for Catholic mythology, so that's a theme you're likely to see in some of my work! I honor Brigid & Flidais, and am currently learning more about Goibniu with an interest in approaching Him in the near future. I am building an art-centered path, looking at using art as magic and researching the roles of artisans and smiths in early Irish society, and applying it where appropriate.
A lot of my hobbies dovetail with my practice - I love Gaelic lore, studying history, and making art. I dabble in a lot of surreal themes and generally consider my artwork world building, whether it's religious or not. I incorporate photography, drawing in a few different mediums, sculpture, and just general "what will this thing do if I glue it to this thing over here." I also work as a user experience designer for a small web firm here in the city, which I adore to pieces. My coworkers and I have a special love for innovations in accessibility and education which ties nicely with a lot of my personal interests.
Aside from the above, I'm a ride-or-die feminist with a special interests in advocating for comprehensive sex education, access to education (THIS IS A THEME), and studying the influences of pop culture. I love makeup and talking about makeup. I LOVE melodic death & black metal as well as pop music and I know all of the words to every song on 1989.
Should I be admitting this in my introduction? I don't know.
I deal with dysthymia, social & general anxiety, and PTSD, and as a subset of all of those I often struggle with dissociation - something you might see is that my writing styles will fluctuate a lot! I very rarely think in words, so while I loooove to write, stringing together sentences to suit my thoughts can be kind of difficult so I'm known to communicate in made-up words and onomatopoeia. Which I feel like is just a fun decoding game.
anyWAY.
I have no concept of TMI and am happy to talk to you about anything you like, polytheist-related or otherwise. You can contact me through the forum or at moonbeamsme@gmail.com.
Also I have an incredibly foul mouth, sorry in advance.
