Hello, polytheist community forum! I'm Seek, Kemetic polytheist and career nerdlord. I spend most of my time on my tumblr blog, which is specifically for religion things; my main blog is a multifandom mess that no one needs to see. I'm pretty new to this whole 'polytheism' thing--I was raised by my vaguely theistic mother outside of any kind of religious tradition, so I was always under the impression that religion was never going to be an important part of my life. Then I stumbled headlong into Kemeticism about four months ago and haven't looked back. I'm a soon-to-be Remetj of the Kemetic Orthodoxy, but most of my practice is pretty independent. I'm particularly focused on the Kemetic god Heru-wer, also known as Horus the Elder or Haroeris (for you guys who aren't up on Kemeticism, there are like fifty Horuses, it's ridiculous). Outside of religion, I like to watch TV and then talk about it with disturbing levels of enthusiasm. I'm a writer who admittedly doesn't get much done, but is super-into worldbuilding and conlangs. I love languages in general, actually; I speak pretty good Spanish and much less-good Japanese and Russian. I am a full-time internet. I've also been venturing into the tabletop RPG scene, which has been a ton of fun. I also overuse exclamation marks. I'm very sorry. But it's nice to meet you (whoever you are)!!

Welcome to the forum Seek! I didn't know that about the Horuses, that's crazy. Also, you'll have to chat with Johnathan (modernsoutherngent) - he's studying Russian as well!

Throughout middle school and early high school, anytime we were able to pick a subject to study I always picked Egyptian Mythology. I was always so fascinated by it. (I'm super surprised I didn't end up following a Kemetic path when I finally explored my religious beliefs!) But I remember trying to learn about the Gods and...realized quickly why people preferred Greek. "Horus is...wait, multiple gods? Waitwaitwait...Whoiswhoiswhat?" That being said, I'm glad you are able to parse it out better than my middle school self did! What table top games have you played? Pathfinder, D&D, Shadowrun?

Haha, thanks guys. I'm still working on parsing the clusterfuck that is 'Horus', but I think I've got a decent grasp of it by now (I hope)!
I'm currently in the middle of a Pokemon tabletop game that's a blast, albeit very complicated to stat when you're bad at numbers. I also have three D&D games in the pipeline. I'd love to try Pathfinder and Shadowrun sometime, but my RPG groups don't seem too interested in those--sort of a shame, but I have a lot of fun regardless. :3

I think I actually researched it once, but didn't get around to doing it. But still! Also, it's weird that your group doesn't like Pathfinder or Shadowrun? They're two really great systems (well, Shadowrun can make your hands cramp from allllll the d6s you need...) But yeah, the Pokemon RPG sounds fun nonetheless
