Hiya kids, I'm GreenAsSin or Sin for short. I also have a mix-of-everything Tumblr page under the same name should anyone be interested.
I'm a 25 year old, bisexual, cis lady that lives in the Boston area which is currently buried under several feet of snow (please make it stop). I grew up in a Catholic household attending Catholic schools, wound up getting confirmed through those schools and everything, not because it was a personal choice but more because it was the expected thing to do as a school event or whatever. We never attended church or anything in my family and there was rarely any kind of religious talk between people. Rather there just seemed to be the expectation that everyone be Christian by default, which though not ideal is much preferable to me than a more overbearing religious upbringing. Despite all the Catholicism surrounding me up until college it's definitely not for me. The Catholic church and a certain portion of its Christian members have left a seriously bad taste in my mouth over the years and I personally want no more part in it.
So I found my way to witchcraft, paganism, and polytheism. But unlike the majority of members here seem to be, I am brand spanking new to all of it. Like only a couple of months new. I started really looking into witchcraft sometime in December, though it's been a long time passing interest of mine, and even more recently I shifted my beliefs to polytheism and paganism. I'm not actively practicing insofar as spellwork or active altars and offerings yet, but I plan to be before too long. Right now I'm still mostly gathering information and feeling things out.
I've always had a pretty strong interest in different pantheons and mythology, especially Egyptian and Greek, though more recently something has been telling me to distance myself from the latter. I really don't know what it is but for whatever reason I've found myself very stubbornly refusing to show any interest or involvement in the Greek or Roman pantheons and for now I'm just going to go with my gut and keep them at a respectable distance. My Irish heritage is largely behind my interest in the Celtic pantheon and after a medieval art course in college the Norse pantheon sparked an interest in me as well.
I had planned on working pretty much exclusively within the Celtic pantheon while I'm still getting my feet wet and was going to restrict myself to working with one deity but those plans went out the window pretty quickly. I found Cernunnos while I was searching for a deity to work with while I figure things out and I think I successfully made a connection with him insofar as I got a sort of zing when I saw his name on a list and figure he was aiming to gain my attention. Deerpocalypse (as Tumblr has dubbed it) started around the same time which pretty much confirmed my feelings. I had planned on that being it for me until I got a little more experience under my belt and then Loki came knocking on my door. So as of right now I've got one troublemaker from both the Celtic and Norse pantheons and I'm trying very hard to stick with just the pair of them for now. A long time interest in a couple of Egyptian deities is seriously testing that resolve, though, so we'll see how it goes. I am a terrible, horrible hoarder of anything that interests me and I'm trying not to fall into that where something as big as deities are concerned.
Outside of all that I'm a graduate of MassArt college with a BA in photography, though I haven't done much of anything with it yet. As of now I'm just a part time deli clerk and a haunted house actor during the Halloween season. I'm hoping to be a professional mermaid sometime in the future. I've been roleplaying (mainly on one site) for about eight years. I enjoy being outside and traveling and I love animals. When I'm not puttering around online I like to read, usually fantasy or paranormal stories. A few of my favorite books are Harry Potter, Peter Pan, The Last Unicorn, and Howl's Moving Castle. I'm also trying to learn tarot.
I've been looking to get more involved in the pagan/polytheist community and this seemed like a pretty good place to start. There's a few names here I recognize from blogs I follow on Tumblr so it seems like a pretty promising forum.
And I think that's more than enough from me for now. If anyone has any questions or anything, feel free to ask~
