So I wanted to post a question or two about Hinduism but I wasn't sure which board that'd be? East Asian or Near Eastern?

Good question. I'd say probably Near-Eastern?

Would it make sense to have a "misc gods" board for situations like this?

India is south Asia - very much Asian, rather than having anything in common with near eastern cultures. And Hinduism and India are very closely interconnected. I think something like Jack's idea is a good one.

I'll make a board for Central and South Asia and wait until someone who is a practicing Hindu to make a Hindu board.

This probably goes without saying, but Hindu is very closed and very disrespected by a lot of Western cultures (thinking particularly of the fashion industry) so I think we need to be very mindful about having discussions about it if no one who practices is present. I don't want to say don't discuss it on the board at all, but we should probably keep an eye out for better places to ask questions about it too!

Wait. Most of everyone, including practioners, say Hindu is open. A lot of people on here even say it's open.

Are the people saying it's open Hindu practitioners, raised with Hindu culture? South Asian in any way?
Just something to keep in mind.
I'm not Hindu in any way, so.

Erm, I'll have to see if I can find what I've read before, then; I've definitely read somewhere it was something you're born into, so I'll look in to it. I know for one that people misconstrue it with Buddhism quite a lot. Regardless, I think my point still stands about being careful.

I'm not sure their backgrounds, but I've had about four or five people approach me after my Ask on TPSGP saying it's open then there's also people on here that've said it's open.

I think context is especially important and if they are south asian and/or have been raised with Hindu culture. There's braahmanda (I think I'm spelling that right) on Tumblr you can ask.

How reputable is Shaivam's website? They state it is open. Wiki lists it as open as well. HAF's website I'm not sure how to navigate on mobile.

Tagging off this, since I'm having some uncertainties myself: I'm wondering if the Shinto and Konkokyo boards could be streamlined into a "Japanese polytheism" board? Because there are in fact many, many forms of polytheism in Japan. I could help pull together a resource thread if that would be of any use?
