This is my 징 (jing, korean gong). Hung up on a doorknob for a better picture. It’s 7.5″ in diameter. I wrapped the mallet myself with red yarn (I chose that color to scare away negative spirits), not sure if I want to cut off the strands or not since wrapping it was somewhat difficult and I’m worried that jostling around the yarn too much will cause it to unravel. My current project with this will be to record a half minute (maybe a full minute) of the sounds and possibly chanting prayer later this week.

LOL THREE WEEKS LATER .. Recording of me banging on my gong. Also held a scapegoat rite today. There's quite a few bad news that happened within the last 48 hours, so I felt this was quite necessary. x-post here.

So my hand kinda slipped and I made this!
From the linked post: "It’s basically a shrine to my home….which I can’t really live at being that Im in the middle of the US. The blue glass stones represent the ocean, if that wasn’t obvious. I think I need to add more trees eventually to kinda fill up the background…and because I love forests. The mushrooms are because of Wonderland, by the way. And coffee because my functional hearth is my coffee maker."

Whoa Allec that is so cool! I have finally started making ogham staves! Cut them to size last weekend, going to try and sand and carve them his weekend. I have plenty of extras in case I mess up, ahaha

Having extras helped me a lot when I made mine Critta XP I can't wait to see the finish ones! Me too! I'm pretty good with woodworking but the carving part is going to be interesting, bc I've never done it and I don't really have any tools for it. I might try to pick up a set today. I'm really excited about them tho, they're maple wood, which has a lot of personal/family meaning for me (and is just my favorite kind of wood in general), and the branch they're from was nibbled on by my ponies so they helped. XD

Oooh exciting! This might sound silly but those staves look like they're really satisfying to hold, they're so pretty even uncarved.
I realize I meant to post my WIPs in here ages ago, I'll see if I can remember to take some pictures today while I'm continuing on my decluttering binge!

They're all slightly different sizes but they curve really nicely in my palm and I love them already. I just bought actual carving tools so the ogham goes on soon! I can't wait until they're finished and I can start playing with them.

AHA you quoting me reminded me to take pictures of what I've got goin' on... This is my finished-ish devotional piece for Brigid; still need to sort something for the background, then I'll trim it down and get it framed: These are sketches for my in-progress devotional piece for Flidais, to match (I like that since my guidelines are still there, the deer looks exceedingly concerned): Once I get farther along on hers, I'll start sorting some plans for one for Goibniu / Na Trí Dé Dana. And then this is the big doozy, which is destined to become my shrine, but will be quite an ongoing process. I've sculpted the tree (baking that was not... a process I care to repeat ever in my life) and though you can't see them very well, there's anchors in it for me to twist flowers I'll be making. Second shot is some in-progress charms; one ash leaf for each last name that I'm related to, and one cameo (which will obviously be painted) for each of my relatives who have passed, which I'll hang on the tree. Third shot is planning for the next step, which is to create the skinny branches and all the leaves for the tree! I'll be creating them mostly of wire and beads, and they'll be braided on to the thicker branches.
