Hi, is there anyone here who has active relationships with the gods of Mesoamerica? I am keenly interested in hearing the voices of modern practitioners of Aztec, Mayan, and other native Mexican religions, primarily those of Latinx/Xicanx identity who are trying to keep alive what survives of these traditions. I have attempted to research as much as I can through the internet, but it seems that if they're out there (I know they must be), these practitioners do not currently have the same kind of online presence that those of other paths have, or there is some degree of necessary secrecy/closedness to outsiders I'm not yet aware of.
My current knowledge base consists of the academic, historical information and mythology easily accessible with all the search terms I can muster. But just as many humans now living have vivid experiences with the gods of ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, Scandinavia, Gaul, Britain, etc, I now seek to know to what degree the pantheons of the Mexica (which appear to be far less talked-about) still call to mortals.
Having said that, can anyone point me to any relevant tumblr blogs? I have not yet ventured there to find firsthand, spiritual-rather-than-purely-academic information.
Given that we are aware it is generally problematic to worship the gods of peoples subjected to colonialism/identify as a practitioner of their religions if one is an outsider, and that some gray areas of opinion on this are involved (I have perused this thread carefully to glean a sample of said opinions), I would really like to hear from anyone willing to share that has been involved in a respectful and well-researched relationship with a Mesoamerican deity, UPG and all.
